With Sea Monster Stirrup Cup 003, the series began to shift. While still referencing map monsters, I started letting the metalworking process guide the design. The creature’s expression, volumes, and textures emerged as much from hammering and chasing as from any initial sketch or reference. This piece marked the beginning of a trust in the process, allowing the form to evolve during raising and forming rather than forcing it to match a fixed idea.
