Made alongside SM001, Sea Monster Stirrup Cup 002 continued my early focus on interpreting the “unknown” creatures found in old maps. This was the moment where I was learning how to balance raised forms, surface texture, and expressive anatomy. The piece represents the beginning of how to make the hammered surface come alive. How to let texture, line, and volume create a creature that felt believable within its own mythology.
